Map the questions your buyers actually ask
A brand can be famous for one question and invisible for the one that closes deals. That is why GEO starts with the questions themselves, not with your pages. Before you can be the answer, you have to know which answers are worth owning, and that means mapping the prompts a real buyer uses on their way to a decision.
These are rarely your favourite marketing phrases. A prospect does not ask who has the best synergy. They ask which tool handles a specific job, which vendor suits a company their size, what the alternatives to a named competitor are, whether a product does a particular thing. The language is concrete, situational, and often unflattering to tidy positioning.
Once you have that map, visibility becomes measurable in a way that matters. You can see that you dominate the early, educational questions and disappear at the point of choice, or the reverse. You can tell whether an engine recommends you for the jobs you are actually good at, or quietly steers buyers elsewhere when it counts.
The map also keeps the work honest. It is easy to celebrate appearing in some answer somewhere. It is harder, and far more useful, to appear in the handful of answers that sit closest to a purchase. Knowing which questions those are turns a vague ambition into a short, specific list worth fighting for.
